NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – VCU swept the Atlantic 10 Conference weekly golf awards, the league office announced on Wednesday. Junior Rocky Khara was named the Conference’s Player of the Week, while fellow Ram Jake McNulty was honored as Rookie of the Week. The duo was recognized for tournaments played during the week of Oct. 24-30.

Khara, a native of Sebring, Fla., paced VCU at UNC Greensboro’s Bridgestone Golf Collegiate last week, tying for 15th place with his 4-over par, 54-hole score of 220 (74-73-73). Khara fired a 1-over 73 in Sunday's final round at Grandover Resort’s East Course (7,245 yds) to claim his best finish of the fall season.

McNulty, a native of Port Perry, Ontario, turned in his second straight solid performance, placing 25th at 6-over par (74-73-75-222) for the 54-holes. McNulty carded 12 birdies over the weekend, fifth most among the tournament’s 71 participants.

For the second-straight year, the 13-team Atlantic 10 Conference Golf Championship will be held April 26-28 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. The par 72 course will play at 7,055 yards for the three-day tournament.
