CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - After having three players shoot below par on Friday, Charlotte sits atop the leader board following the first round of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Golf Championship at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla.  

The 49ers are 10 under as a team and sit one shot in front of VCU which had three players in the red as well on Friday.  Temple is one under par as a team in third-place.  Rhode Island is in fourth-place on the strength of a first-round individual best 66 from Branden Chicorka. 

Defending medalist Raoul Menard shot a five under 67 to lead Charlotte and place second behind Chicorka.   Franco Castro and Thomas Rowland each shot 69, while Joe Toland was one over with a 73.

Steffen Harm carded a 68 to place third overall, while Rocky Khara is in a tie for fourth after shooting a 69.   Matt Ball was two under with a 70, while Jake McNulty shot and even par 72 for VCU.

Temple was led by Devin Bibeau who carded a two under par 70 for the Owls.   Brandon Mattews was one under at 71 and Matt Teesdale was an even 72 after round one.  

Chicorka had a bogey free round and tallied six birdies on the day, including four on the back nine holes.  His teammate Andrew Fiorenzano currently stands in a tie for seventh place after a 70 on Friday.
