NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Charlotte men's golf has been picked to finish first in the Atlantic 10 Conference men's golf championship in 2013. The league released its annual preseason poll Thursday, with the Niners claiming the top spot with 152 points in the voting.

Charlotte has won six of the last seven A-10 titles and finished tied for second in the 2012 Championship. The voting was conducted by the A-10's 13 golf coaches, who gave the 49ers eight first-place votes in the poll. Xavier, which also finished tied for second in 2012, was picked second with 131 points.

Richmond and league newcomer VCU tied for third in the poll with 127 points. The Rams received two first-place votes while UR, which finished fourth in 2012 picked up one first place vote. Dayton was picked fifth with 95 points and the 2012 A-10 champion George Washington was picked sixth with one first place vote and 92 total points.

Temple (seventh-88), Rhode Island (eighth-83), St. Bonaventure (ninth-57) and league newcomer Butler (10th-44) earned the next four slots respectively. Fordham, La Salle and Saint Joseph's rounded out the poll.
