Richmond Sweeps Golf Awards
NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—Richmond junior Danny Pizetoski was named A-10 Golfer of the Week while his teammate, freshman Keegan Hoff was named Rookie of the Week. The two awards, announced Friday, were for tournaments played March 5-11.
Pizetoski won the Pinehurst Intercollegiate with a 3-over-par 215 for his second tournament victory of the 2013-14 season. The Davidson, N.C., native shot a 2-under 69 in the opening round on Pinehurst No. 8, a 5-over 75 in the second round on Pinehurst No. 2, and a 1-under 70 in the final round back on Pinehurst No. 8 to win the tourney by three shots. Pizetoski became the first Spider to win two career tournaments since Jordan Utley did so in 2006 and 2007.
UR freshman Keegan Hoff, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 25th at 21-over at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Hoff shot a three-round total of 233 (76-82-75) to help the Spiders place fifth on the 7,000-yard, par 71 event, which was played on Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 8.
