LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association released their weekly rankings Monday and placed the University of Dayton volleyball team at No. 15 this week.
The Flyers moved up three spots from No. 18, where they spent the past three weeks. Dayton had big wins over Saint Louis on Friday and Butler on Sunday. Both victories came on the road.
For the 56th consecutive week, Dayton has either been ranked or received votes from the AVCA. The last release without mention of the Flyers was on Nov. 23, 2009.
Penn State stayed at No. 1 from last week with a 20-1 record overall. Stanford, Oregon, Nebraska, and Washington rounded out the top five. Dayton remains as the only Atlantic 10 team in the standings.
UD is 17-4 on the year and 9-0 in conference play. The Flyers' last loss came against current No. 16 team Kansas State over a month ago on Sept. 15. Dayton has won nine straight contests.
Coach Kelly Sheffield and his squad will host George Washington on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7p.m. in the Frericks Center. Senior Night will be Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. as Dayton hosts Duquesne.
