Newport News, Va. --  Saint Louis’ Mike Vigliarolo and Saint Joseph’s Jason O’Keefe were named Atlantic 10 Co-Players of the Week, while Hawks’ right-hander Daniel Thorpe was tabbed as Pitcher of the Week and Dayton backstop Zach Schira was named Rookie of the Year.

Vigliarolo led the Billikens to a four-game sweep over North Dakota last weekend. In the series, he was 8-15 (.533 batting average) with three doubles, a home run, three runs and eight RBIs. Vigliarolo posted a slugging percentage of .933 and an on-base percentage of .588. Additionally, he was a threat on the base paths, going 2-2 in steal attempts. Vigliarolo did not strike out in any of the four games this weekend.

O’Keefe hit .700 over the weekend, scoring four runs and driving in five as the Hawks went 2-1 to earn a share of the Big 5 Baseball Bash title.  He notched three hits and three RBI in the win over Niagara on Saturday before going 2-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBI in the win over Temple on Sunday.  O’Keefe extended his hitting streak to nine games; he has hit safely in every game thus far this season.  In addition, he has reached base safely in his last 16 games dating back to last season.

Thorpe was outstanding on Saturday morning, fanning 10 Niagara hitters over eight innings as the Hawks shut out the Purple Eagles, 8-0.  He allowed just five hits in the game and allowed only two runners past second base during his outing.

Schira batted .400 last weekend while catching all four game for the Flyers. Originally an outfielder, Schira filled in at catcher for Dayton during the UD-WSU Classic. The Arizona native led the team with three RBI, six hits, and two doubles. Schira also recorded 18 putouts and stole a base. The highlight of the weekend was against Bradley on Saturday in which he went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. He also boasted a .438 on-base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage. Schira is third on the team this season with a .326 average.
