NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Atlantic 10 Conference set an attendance record during the 2012-13 men’s basketball season, with 1,511,374 fans watching 253 different games.
The 1,511,374 fans eclipses the previous record, set in 2008, of 1,252,485 a jump of over 258,000 fans.
The total attendance numbers, which are compiled and released by the NCAA each year, also show that the A-10 had an increase in the average number of fans per game, up 418 over 2011-12 to 5,974 fans per event.
The league had seven of its 16 teams ranked in the top 100 of all institutions, including Dayton, which finished in the Top 30 in men's basketball attendance for the 16th straight season. The Flyers were the highest-ranked A-10 team.
