UMass' Chaz Williams Named As A Bob Cousy Award Finalist
AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts senior Chaz Williams has been named a finalist for the 2014 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native leads UMass in scoring at 15.4 points per game and ranks third in the country with 7.3 assists. He also averages 1.4 steals per game and has a 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio.
His UMass totals are now 1,521 points, 656 assists and 182 steals. He is 22 assists shy of tying Chris Lowe's school record of 688 assists. In his four-year college career, Williams has 1,846 points, 794 assists and 236 steals.
He has also been named to the Wendy's Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list, the Oscar Robertson Midseason Watch List and the Men's Naismith Trophy Midseason 30 List.
Williams and the Minutemen will return to action on Friday when they play host to VCU. Tip off at the sold out Mullins Center is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
