Galloway Sets SJU Record, SLU, UR, Rhody, Dayton Win Saturday

No. 10/10 SAINT LOUIS 66, GEORGE WASHINGTON 59
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Jordair Jett scored 16 points, Rob Loe added 12 and No. 10 Saint Louis earned its 19th straight win by holding off George Washington 66-59 Saturday night.

Reserve Grandy Glaze added 10 points for the Billikens (25-2, 12-0 Atlantic 10), and Austin McBroom and Mike McCall both sank two free throws in the final 20.7 seconds to seal the win.

Joe McDonald scored 21 points and Kevin Larsen had 14 for George Washington (20-7, 8-5). Larsen and Isaiah Armwood grabbed 11 rebounds apiece.

The Colonials, who trailed 41-27 early in the second half, went on a 14-2 run to tie the score at 50 on Maurice Creek's short jumper with 9:18 left.

George Washington was just 3 of 18 after tying the game.

Wichita State (28 straight) and Stephen F. Austin (22) are the only teams with longer winning streaks than the Billikens.


RICHMOND 62, LA SALLE 49

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Terry Allen scored a career-high 23 points and helped Richmond pull away from La Salle for a 62-49 win on Saturday.

With a one-point Richmond lead midway through the second half, Allen scored eight straight points to spark a 19-5 run that extended the Spiders' lead to 59-44 with 2:19 to play.

Kendall Anthony added 14 points and ShawnDre' Jones had 10 for Richmond (18-9, 8-4 Atlantic 10), which hit 7 of 16 from 3-point range en route to its fourth win in its last five games.

Tyreek Duren led La Salle with 26 points and Jerrell Wright had 10 but the Explorers shot just 32.7 percent from the field. La Salle (12-14, 4-8) has now lost five straight and eight of its last nine.


RHODE ISLAND 87, ST. BONAVENTURE 78
SAINT BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (AP) - Xavier Munford poured in 32 points and E.C. Matthews added 24 as Rhode Island put away St. Bonaventure 87-78 on Saturday.

The Rams (12-16, 3-10 Atlantic 10) shot 50 percent from the floor, with Munford shooting 10 of 19 and Matthews finishing 8 of 16. Gilvydas Biruta contributed 11 points.

St. Bonaventure (16-11, 6-7) went 4 of 16 from the perimeter and had a 40-26 disadvantage in rebounding. Youssou Ndoye finished with 21 points and Matthew Wright had 20.

The Bonnies led 43-33 at halftime, but Rhode Island stormed into the lead in the second half with a 12-2 run fueled by 10 points from Munford. St. Bonaventure pushed back into a five-point lead, but Matthews hit a layup, 3-pointer and two free throws to pull ahead by four with 2:25 remaining.

A three-point play by Biruta and a 10-for-10 finish from the line put the game out of reach.


DAYTON 57, DUQUESNE 54
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Jordan Sibert scored 18 points as Dayton used a big second-half rally to win its sixth-straight game on Saturday, 57-54 at Duquesne.

The Flyers (19-8, 7-5 Atlantic 10) were down 39-25 at halftime.

The deficit increased to 43-25 in the opening minutes of the second half as Ovie Soko, who had 26 points for the Dukes (11-15, 3-10), scored four straight. Then Dayton reeled off 11-straight points, nine by Sibert, to get back in the game.

The Flyers were trailing 51-39 with 7:54 left when Dyshawn Pierre scored five quick points, Devin Oliver made three free throws and Sibert knocked down a 3 to tie the game with 3:29 left. Sibert followed with a dunk to put Dayton ahead at 3:09.

Duquense pulled within one at 18 seconds but Jordan responded with a dunk at 10 seconds and the Dukes missed two late 3s.


SAINT JOSEPH'S 87, FORDHAM 72
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Langston Galloway made 10 3-pointers, setting a school single-game record, en route to a career-high 33 points to lead St. Joseph's over Fordham 87-72 on Saturday.

Galloway hit 10 of 15 from beyond the arc as St. Joe's shot 59 percent from the floor and 52 percent on 3-pointers. DeAndre Bembry and Ronald Roberts, Jr. both had 13 points and Halil Kanacevic added 10.

St. Joe's (19-7, 9-3 Atlantic 10) scored the first seven points of the game, including a trey by Bembry, and the Hawks led 42-30 at the break as Bembry had all of his 13 points before intermission.

Galloway took over in the second, as his seven 3-pointers through the first 10 minutes stretched St. Joe's lead to 71-42, and the Hawks cruised home from there.

Bryan Smith recorded a career-high 28 points to lead Fordham (9-16, 2-10). Jon Severe added 12 for the Rams.
