-Seven Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball programs have earned postseason berths.   Dayton and Saint Joseph’s will represent the Atlantic 10 in the 2013 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament. Five A-10 teams were also selected to take part in the 2013 WNIT with all five beginning play on Thursday.  This marks the fifth straight year that the A-10 has had five teams in the WNIT.

-The Charlotte women’s basketball team has extended its consecutive postseason appearance streak to 11 following the announcement Monday night the 49ers will be participating in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the 10th time in the program’s 38-year history.

-Fordham will make its first appearance in the WNIT and the first in a postseason tournament since 1994, when Fordham made its only appearance in the Big Dance. The Rams lost to number one seeded Penn State, 94-41, in that game.

-Butler is making its fourth WNIT appearance in five years, and its sixth all-time. The Bulldogs won a first-round game at Duquesne in 2009 before falling at Marquette and lost in the first round in both 2010 (Illinois State) and 2011 (Wisconsin). Butler owns a 3-6 all-time record in the WNIT.

-2013 marks the fifth straight year Duquesne has participated in the WNIT. In 2009, the Dukes played its first-ever post-season game.

-Richmond will be playing at N.C. State in the WNIT on Thursday.  Richmond will bring a 8-9 all-time WNIT mark into Thursday’s game and is making its fifth-straight postseason appearance.


-The A-10 has received at least one bid to compete in the WNIT for 14-straight years.

-Atlantic 10 teams have compiled a record of 39-49 (.443) in the WNIT.

-The Atlantic 10 has received five bids to the WNIT in each of the last five years.

-Duquesne advanced to the third round of the 2011 WNIT for the first time in school history.

-Charlotte made the program’s first appearance in the WNIT semifinals and only the third trip to the semifinals for an A-10 team in 2010-11. Richmond advanced to the WNIT semifinals during the 2003-04 campaign, where the Spiders dropped an 81-72 decision to Creighton in Omaha, Neb. St. Bonaventure also reached the semifinals of the WNIT in 2008-09 and fell, 80-66, to South Florida at the Reilly Center.
