Philadelphia, PA - Third-seeded Fordham topped 11th-seeded Saint Louis, 65-48, Saturday evening in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Buick Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.
Fordham improves to 23-7 overall and advances to the semifinals for the first time in program history. The Rams will face Temple at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Saint Louis drops to 12-19 following the loss.
Marah Strickland led the Rams with a game-high 22 points. She was joined in double figures by Arielle Collins with 13 points and Samantha Clark with 10.
Fordham registered 17 assists on their 22 made field goals. Erin Rooney dished out a game-high six helpers to go along with her nine points. Collins added five assists and two steals to go along with her point total.
Saint Louis got a team-high 14 points from Mallory Eggert, while Courtney Webb and Desirae Ball each had eight points in a losing effort.
The game was close for most of the first half before Fordham went on a 12-2 run over the final 6:15 to head to the locker room in front 34-18.
Saint Louis made back-to-back buckets at the outset of the second half to make it 34-22 with 17:34 to play.
The Rams responded by scoring eight of the next nine points to take a 19 point lead with 13:50 left on the clock and effectively put the game away.
