Newport News, Va. -- UMass’ Jasmine Harris & Fordham’s Abigail Corning have been named nominees for the 2014 Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Team.

Harris, along with her Minutewomen teammates, are members of Team IMPACT, which has a mission to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses. Harris serves as the coordinator of activities and is charged with establishing and expanding team-based support networks with the young children made honorary members of the team.

In just the past few months, Corning has served as the athletic department’s leading fundraiser at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park, volunteered with youth participants at local triathlons, helped organize an event on campus to collect relief for the victims of Superstorm Sandy, participated in midnight runs that help distribute food to the homeless, and passed out gifts to children at local hospitals during the Christmas season.  Alongside her teammates, Corning also welcomed a new member of the Rams this season.  They adopted Imani Simon, a five-year old from Yonkers that joined Fordham through Team IMPACT, an organization that partners sick youths with local college teams.
