>The A-10 has three teams ranked in the top-62 of the RPI report. Saint Joseph’s is currently sixth, Dayton is 54, while Fordham is 62 . The A-10 as a whole is ranked ninth among conferences.
>Graham Hays of ESPN has named Fordham’s Erin Rooney and St. Bonaventure’s Katie Healy two of the 10 players in women’s college basketball who have risen to the occasion most in 2013-14. Through 11 games, Rooney is averaging 20.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. In leading the Rams to a 9-2 record, the 2013 First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection has converted on 48 percent of her tries from the floor, including 45 percent of her three-point attempts. Healy has helped the Bonnies jump out to an 11-4 record this season. The sophomore currently holds the team lead in points (14.4), assists (40), blocks (19), and is second on the team, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game.
>VCU set three school records and matched its best start in program history with a 112-54 win over Massachusetts in its Atlantic 10 opener Thursday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The Rams’ 58-point victory was its second largest in the program’s 40-year history.
>Fordham set a pair of school records with its 74-52 victory over Saint Louis on Thursday night. The win marked Fordham’s 11th straight, besting the previous program record of 10 set in 1978-1979. By extending their record to 12-2, the Rams also set the high-water mark for the best start to a season in program history, eclipsing the 11-3 record compiled by the 1976-1977 squad.>With a win over George Mason on Thursday, GW improves to 10-4 on the year, its best 14-game start since 2007-08, as it opens league play with a victory for just the second time since that season. In addition, the Colonials have won six in a row for the first time since Jan. 14-31, 2009.
