NAPLES, Fla. – The Atlantic 10 Conference voted unanimously this week to expand its men’s and women’s basketball championship bracket to include all members. The decision was made as part of the league’s annual spring meetings, which concluded today. Conducted over the last four days, A-10 athletic directors, head men's and women's basketball coaches, conference partners and representatives from the NCAA discussed conference business as well as national issues. The meetings resulted in a significant number of meaningful decisions voted into policy by the A-10 Directors of Athletics.

The championship expands from previous years when only the top 12 teams qualified. The move means every member (13 teams in 2014) will compete in their respective championships, further strengthening the partnership between Atlantic 10 and the Barclays Center, which recently completed the first year in a long-term contract between the league and Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment.

The Athletic Directors approved an 18-game conference schedule for men’s basketball beginning in 2014-15. The scheduling model will allow for more conference contests, the continuation of rivalries and the opportunity to enhance the marketing and branding for the A-10.

The league received updates and reports from its two existing television partners (ESPN and CBS Sports Network) and from its new national television partner NBC Sports Network, which will carry 25 national A-10 games as part of the 2013-14 season. The league, in conjunction with all three partners, expanded its television package with an agreement last fall that goes into effect in the upcoming season.

“Bringing every member to our basketball championships is really important to our coaches and Member Institutions, our commitment to being the most successful basketball-centric conference in Division I has been a priority and will continue to be a priority” stated A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “The Athletic Directors made a number of decisions this week that will greatly benefit the Atlantic 10, our national relevance and brand, keeping us on the forefront athletically and academically”

The A-10 also unanimously agreed to increase the number and the amount of the post-graduate scholarship program. It was decided that 10 student-athletes will receive $7,000 each to pursue post-graduate work. This represents an expansion of nearly four times over the previous scholarships, which were awarded to four student-athletes at $5,000 each. The Atlantic 10 is proud to rank second in NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and is committed to supporting its student-athletes in every manor possible.

“Having completed the most successful year in the history of the Conference, the meeting this week was very beneficial. We are looking to build on the success of this year," said Tim Wabler, Vice President and Director of Athletics at the University of Dayton and the chair of the Council of ADs. “These decisions will benefit our student-athletes and the Atlantic 10 as a whole – as a group we are excited about the upcoming year.”

The A-10 also approved and finalized all Olympic Sports championship sites for 2013-14, with the highlight being TPC Tampa Bay, which was selected as the host for the men’s golf championship. TPC (Tournament Players Club) Tampa Bay was rated the No.13 Best Public Golf Facility by GolfWorld Magazine's 2010 Reader's Choice Poll. TPC Tampa Bay is the former host of the Champions Tour's Tampa Bay Pro-Am. A complete list of the 2013-14 Olympic Sports Championship dates/sites can be found below.

The meeting marked the first time George Mason was represented at the Atlantic 10 annual spring meeting. The Patriots announced the move to become the A-10’s 13th member in March and will officially join the league on July 1, 2013. Earlier this month it was announced that Davidson would become the 14th member and will join the Atlantic 10 on July 1, 2014.
