Richmond, Va. – Top-seeded UMass tallied 10 first-half goals en route to a 16-3 victory over fourth-seeded Duquesne in the second semifinal of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Championship being played at Robins Stadium on the campus of the University of Richmond.

The Minutewomen improve to 17-1 and advance to Sunday’s Final against Richmond at 1:00 p.m.  Duquesne concludes its season with a 14-3 overall record.

Tanner Guarino scored four goals, while Sam Rush added a hat trick for UMass. Katie Ferris and Melissa Carelli each scored a pair of goals, while Erika Eipp dished out four assists in the win for Massachusetts

Rush scored 33 seconds into the game to spark an early three goal run for the Minutewomen.

Caitlin Prince scored at the 21:29 mark to get Duquesne on the board and make the score 3-1.

Each team would score a pair of goals, making the score 5-3 with just over 10 minutes to go in the first half.

An Eipp score at the 8:14 mark proved to be the first of a five goal UMass run to close the half and 11 unanswered goals to close out the game.

Rachel Vallarelli made four saves for UMass, while Kristen Gregory made eight stops for Duquesne.

Haley Marafioti, Clare Hurley each scored, while Prince added an assist to go along with her first-half goal.
