NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference and CBS Sports Network have announced the addition of three nationally-televised league contests, including a regular-season women’s basketball game, along with the 2012 A-10 Lacrosse and Baseball Championships.
CBS Sports Network will broadcast the Xavier at St. Bonaventure women’s basketball game on Sunday, Feb. 18 at SBU’s Reilly Center. The outing will now tip-off at 2:00PM, and will be part of a doubleheader with the Bonnies’ men’s game versus Rhode Island.
This season's A-10 women’s basketball schedule is highlighted by 28 television appearances showcasing all 14 A-10 institutions. ESPN networks will feature three women's games, including two during the regular season and the 2012 A-10 Championship game live from Hagan Arena on the campus of Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pa. on March 5. CBS Sports Network is set to televise an additional 11 games; nine during the regular season and the two semifinal contests at the A-10 Championship.
The 2012 A-10 Lacrosse Championship match will also be televised live from the University of Richmond’s campus on April 29 and the 2012 A-10 Baseball Championship game will be aired live on May 26 from Houlihan Park on the campus of Fordham University. Times for both Championship games will be announced at a later date.
The television additions are part of a comprehensive package in which the Atlantic 10 Conference and its membership is televising over 170 men’s and women’s basketball games during the 2011-12 season. These games are broadcast via national, regional and local television affiliates, showcasing a league that ranks among the nation’s best in both men’s and women’s basketball RPI. There are 15 Atlantic 10 teams (eight men’s, seven women’s) ranked among the top 100 RPI leaders.
