Fifield, Corliss, Andrews Earn Lacrosse Weekly Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.--The Atlantic 10 has named Richmond senior attacker Caitlin Fifield as its lacrosse offensive player of the week, senior goalkeeper Megan Corliss of La Salle as its defensive player of the week and Explorers freshman midfielder Claire Andrews as its Rookie of the Week. The league announced the three awards, Wednesday for matches played during the week of March 5-11, 2012.

Fifield scored a season-high five goals in Richmond's win over Old Dominion and a hat-trick against No. 13 James Madison, including the game-winner with 24 seconds left as Richmond won its third-straight game, 13-12. A Babylon, N.Y. native, Fifield also added two assists to the eight goals for a total of 10 points on nine shots. She caused seven turnovers and had a ground ball and a draw control in the pair of wins.

Corliss posted a goals against average of 10.5 while making 28 saves in a split week for La Salle. The Blue Bell, Pa., native faced 49 shots in the two games, including 29 versus Drexel. Corliss made a season-high 19 saves versus the Dragons for a save percentage of .655.

Andrews scored five goals for the Explorers, including four in the 12-11 win over Lafayette. The Arnold, Md., native was perfect in that game, scoring all four of her shots. She added a single tally against Drexel and notched a ground ball and caused turnover versus Lafayette.
