AMHERST, Mass. - The No. 8/15 UMass women's lacrosse team will head to College Park, Md., on Saturday, May 12 to take on third-seeded and fourth-ranked Maryland at 2 PM. The Minutewomen are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in the last four years and enter the Big Dance riding a 12-game win streak after Sunday's 13-12 win over Canisius.
Tickets for Saturday are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Maryland has advised preparation for heavy traffic due to graduation ceremonies at the Comcast Center.
This will be the second all-time meeting between UMass and Maryland in the NCAA Tournament. The two squads also met in the 1983 NCAA Semifinals with the Terps winning 9-4.
The game will feature the nation's top two point producing offenses as UMass ranks No. 1 (459 points) and Maryland ranks No. 2 (431 points). The Terps are led by Alex Aust who has 90 points on 40 goals and 50 assists. Maryland's balanced attack features six players with 40+ points, while Brittany Dipper has been the Terps' goalie of record (17-3) with a 7.41 goals against average and a .498 save percentage.
UMass enters the game with a 19-1 overall record and an offense that features five players with 40+ points. Katie Ferris leads the Minutewomen with 96 points (58 goals, 38 assists) and the duo of Lauren Terracciano and Jesse O'Donnell who each have over 60 points. Katie Florence holds an 18-1 record for the year with an 8.22 goals against average and a .473 save percentage.
