The Minutewomen improved to 18-1 last Sunday with a 14-9 win over Richmond to capture their fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship crown. The win moved UMass up to No. 6 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings. The Minutewomen have now won 11 straight games heading into a re-match of last season's NCAA Play-In Game against Canisius.
A-10 Tournament MVP Cori Murray became the fifth Minutewoman to post 40+ points for the season with her career-best five goal, one assist effort in the championship game making UMass one of just a trio of teams in the NCAA to have that many top point producers.
A-10 Player of the Year Katie Ferris set a new league single-season point record on Sunday with a goal and an assist giving her 95 points for the year. She needs just five points to become the first player in UMass and Atlantic 10 history to crack the 100-point barrier for a season.
The Minutewomen are going for their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and the sixth trip overall. Last season, UMass fell at Loyola in the First Round. UMass won the first-ever NCAA sponsored women's lacrosse National Title in 1982.
