NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Atlantic 10 has named Massachusetts sophomore attacker Katie Ferris as its lacrosse player of the week, senior goalkeeper Megan Corliss of La Salle as its defensive player of the week and Duquesne freshman midfielder Clare Hurley as its Rookie of the Week. The league announced the three awards, Wednesday for matches played during the week of March 19-25, 2012.

Ferris led UMass to a pair of wins during the week - Wednesday’s 12-11 overtime win at No. 13 Albany and Saturday’s 19-6 win over Siena. For the week, she scored seven goals and tallied seven assists for 14 points. Against Albany, the Carthage, N.Y., native had three goals and three assists, while against Siena she notched four goals and four assists. All three of her assists against Albany came in the second half – the first two setting up game-tying goals when UMass was down and the last one setting up the game-winner in overtime.

Corliss posted a GAA of 8.50 on the week while picking up wins over Villanova and San Diego State. A Blue Bell, Pa., native, she made 17 saves, six versus Villanova and 11 against San Diego State, to post a .500 save percentage on the week. She faced a total of 34 shots and did not allow double-digit scoring by either opponent.

Hurley tallied six goals and an assists on the week for seven points in a pair of wins for the Dukes. She scored twice and had her assist against St. Francis while also collecting two ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover. A Penfield, N.Y., native, she had a hat trick versus Detroit with four goals in addition to three draw controls and a caused turnover.
