Andrews, Antonelli, Shaw Earn A-10 Women’s Lax Awards

Newport News, Va. – La Salle’s Claire Andrews and Gabby Antonelli have been named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, while Duquesne’s  Kaelin Shaw was tabbed as the A-10’s Rookie of the Week.

Andrews recorded two hat tricks and seven total goals in a 3-0 week to help the Explorers start their season 3-0 for the first time in program history. The Arnold, Md., native scored one goal and three assists in season-opening 17-5 win over LIU Brooklyn, along with four ground balls, a draw control and caused turnover.  Andrews drained three goals in 7-4 win over Temple, including the game winner… Drained three goals and assisted on another in a 14-8 win at Central Connecticut.

Antonelli earned three straight wins in goal to start her collegiate career, helping the squad to a 3-0 record for the first time in program history.  The Centreville, Md., native made seven saves in collegiate debut against LIU Brooklyn in a 17-5 win. Antonelli made nine saves including a late flurry of Temple shots to snag the 7-4 win,  before ending the week with eight saves in win over Central Connecticut.

A native of Laurel, Md., Shaw opened up her collegiate career with a hat trick in a 22-4 Dukes’ victory over Howard.  Shaw also grabbed on one ground ball and one draw control.
