Duquesne Claims Three of the Four Cross Country Weekly Honors
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Duquesne’s Bob Gasior and Carly Seymour were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Tuesday for meets conducted Aug. 30 – Sept. 2. Also honored this week was Daniel Savage of Saint Joseph’s, who was named the Men’s Rookie of the Week, and Duquesne’s Megan Baritot, who was named the Women’s Rookie of the Week.
Gasior, a junior from Pittsburgh, Pa. earned Men’s Performer of the Week after recording a first-place overall finish at this past weekend’s Duquesne Duals. With a time of 26:07.6 (8k), Geisor finished seven seconds ahead of the second-place finsiher and led the Dukes to victories over Pittsburgh, Youngstown State, Robert Morris, Carnegie Mellon and St. Vincent. He was followed closely by three other Duquesne runners as the Dukes also took the second, third and fourth spots.
Seymour, a senior from Ebensburg, Pa., was named Women’s Performer of the Week following a first-place finish at the Duquesne Duals in which she recorded a time of 18:03.3 (5k) and finished 29 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Seymour led the Duquesne women to a 3-0 record at the event with victories against Pittsburgh, Youngstown State and Carnegie Mellon.
Savage, a freshman from Glenolden, Pa., recorded a second-place finish with a time of 15:39.74 (5k) at the College of New Jersey Blue/Gold Classic this past weekend en route to being named Men’s Rookie of the Week. The rookie was one of two Saint Joseph’s freshman runners to finish among the top five finishers.
Baritot, a freshman from East Aurora, N.Y., was named Women’s Rookie of the Week after finishing third at this past weekend’s Duquesne Duals with a time of 18:32.9 (5k).
