NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fordham’s Mike Turi and Anisa Arsenault were named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday. Also honored for their performances were Fordham’s Adam Schwenzfeier and Brianne Roche, who were named the Men’s and Women’s Rookies of the Week. Awards were based off performances from October 7-13.
Turi, a sophomore from Fishkill, N.Y., finished ninth overall at the Metropolitan Championships (8k) hosted by the Rams with a time of 26:30.48. Turi was the top finisher for Fordham who placed third overall in team points at the meet.
Arsenault, a senior from Attleboro, Mass., was the top female finisher for the Rams with a time of 18:29.38 (5k) and a third-place overall finish. Arsenault helped lead Fordham to a fourth-place team finish.
Schwenzfeier recorded a 24th place finish for the Rams with a time of 27:00.87 (8k) out of 117 runners. The Watervliet, N.Y., native was one of six Fordham runners to finish among the top 30 finishers.
Roche, a freshman from Hampton Bays, N.Y., was the top freshman finisher for the Rams at the Metropolitan Championships (5k) with a time of 20:01.78 good for a 36th place finish.
