NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - La Salle's Alfredo Santana and Butler's Katie Clark were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Performers of the Week, while Fordham's Michael Turi and Butler's Olivia Pratt earned Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday for meets ran Sept. 17-23.
Senior Santana earned his second Men's Performer of the Week accolade this season after placing fourth out of 110 runners at the Main Line Invitational this past week in Haverford, Pa. The Philadelphia, Pa., native finished the 6k race with a time of 19:17 and crossed the finish line before 14 out of 15 of Villanova's nationally ranked squad. Santana paced the Explorers the entire race, which resulted in three top-10 La Salle finishers.
Clark, a junior, earned Women's Performer of the Week honors after taking first place in the Toledo Bubble Buster this past week. The Hull, U.K. native completed the 4k course in 13:04, finishing 15 seconds ahead of No. 22 Syracuse's Sara Pagano, who placed second, respectively. The Bulldogs claimed the meet title out of 14 teams, which featured four Top-25 ranked squads.
Turi garnered Men's Rookie of the Week honors. The Fishkill, N.Y., native placed fourth out of 208 runners this past week at the Williams College Invitational. Completing the 8k course in 26:20, the freshman was the first Ram to cross the finish line, helping his squad to an overall fourth place victory out of 17 teams.
Pratt earned Women's Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season. The Madison, Wis., native was among the Bulldog squad who finished first overall this past week at the Toledo Bubble Buster. Pratt covered the 4k course in 13:36, earning 13th place out of 172 competitors.
