NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Duquesne's Jim Spisak and Amber Valimont were named Atlantic 10 Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively, while the Dukes' Josef DiPietrantonio and Hannah Scipio were named A-10 Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday for meets ran Sept. 10-16.

Senior Jim Spisak earned Men's Performer of the Week honors after placing third out of 277 runners this past week at the National Catholic Championship hosted by Notre Dame. The Johnstown, Pa., native finished the 8k race with a time of 24:30, making him the top Atlantic 10 finisher at the meet, while also leading his teammates to an overall team finish of second place among the 34 teams.

Valimont, a junior from Greensburg, Pa., earned Women's Performer of the Week accolades after finishing second out of 266 runners in the 5k race at the National Catholic Championship with a time of 17:12. Duquesne's women's squad also finished second overall out of 34 teams.

Freshman DiPietrantonio earned Men's Rookie of the Week honors after finishing 41st out of a field of 277 runners at the National Catholic Championship. The Beaver, Pa., native was the top A-10 male freshman finisher at the meet.

Scipio garnered Women's Rookie of the Week honors. The Derry, Pa., native finished 28th out of 266 runners in the 5k race, and was also the top A-10 female freshman finisher at the National Catholic Championship.
