NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph’s Kevin McDonnell and Saint Louis’ Hilary Orf were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday. Also honored were Michael Scolarici of Saint Louis, who was named the Men’s Rookie of the Week, and Rhode Island’s Lauren Columbare, who was named the Women’s Rookie of the Week.
McDonnell paced Saint Joseph’s on its way to first place team finish at the Charlotte Duals. McDonnell posted a time of 15:26, which was good for first overall and was 19 seconds faster than the next closest competitor.
Orf, the senior from Ballwin, Mo., set a new school record in the 5K en route to finishing first at the NIU Huskie Open. Her time of 17:47:00 placed her first overall and helped lead the Billikens to a second place team finish in the event.
Scolarici, a O’Fallon, Ill., native, registered a time of 26:44.09 and a first place finish at the NIU Huskie Open. Scolarici became Saint Louis’ first individual title winner on the men’s side since the program was re-established in 1992.
In her collegiate debut, Rhode Island’s Lauren Columbare posted a time of 19:24:53 and recorded a 23rd place finish at the Bryant University Invitational.
