Atlantic 10 Announces Cross Country Performers of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Fordham's Julian Saad and Charlotte's Amanda Goetschius were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday. Also honored were Rhode Island's Zachary Seites-Rundlett and Lauren Columbare, who were named the Men's and Women's Rookies of the Week, respectively.
Saad, the junior from Trumbull, Conn., led Fordham to a second place team finish at the Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown, Mass., where he posted a time of 26:13.27 on way to his second ever collegiate Cross Country victory.
Goetschius, the senior from Franklinville, N.J., racing her first race of the 2011 season, posted a time of 21:15 in the 6K earning her a 21st place overall finish at the Roy Griak Invitational in Falcon Heights, Minn. in a race that featured eight nationally-ranked teams.
Seites-Rundlett, the freshman from North Kingstown, R.I., posted a time of 27:29 on way to his 22nd overall finish at the Ted Owens CCSU Invitational in New Britain, Conn.
Columbare, the Mansfield, Mass. native, earned her second Rookie of the Week honor of the season after posting a time of 19:18 and recording a 20th overall finish at Ted Owens CCSU Invitational in New Britain, Conn. Columbare now joins Dayton's Katie Ollier as the only repeat winners of the Women's Rookie of the Week Award this season.
