NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Kevin McDonnell of Saint Joseph's and Hilary Orf of Saint Louis were named the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Performers of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Also honored were Paul Szulewski of Saint Joseph's and Fordham's Sarah Glockenmeier as Atlantic 10 Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week, respectively.
McDonnell, the senior from Moorestown, N.J., has been named the Men's Performer of the Week for the second time this season after posting a time of 24:54 in the 8K and recording a second place overall finish at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J. McDonnell joins Massachusetts' Sean Duncan as the only two-time award winner this season.
Orf, the senior from Ballwin, Mo., earned Women's Performer of the Week for the third time this season after recording a personal best time of 21:00.72 in the 6K at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill. After breaking her own personal school record in the 6K, Orf has now broken both the Saint Louis' 5K and 6K school records this season.
Williamstown, N.J., native, Paul Szulewski, posted a time of 25:26 and 26th place overall finish at the Princeton Invitational as the Hawks landed a fourth place overall team finish.
Glockenmeier, the freshman from Basking Ridge, N.J., recorded a time of 14:31.22 in the 4K at the St. John's Fall Festival in Queens, N.Y. Glockenmeier has now won two consecutive Women's Rookie of the Week awards, and joins Katie Ollier of Dayton and Lauren Columbare of Rhode Island as repeat winners.
