Charlotte, Massachusetts and Saint Louis Rack Up Cross Country Weekly Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Sean Duncan of Massachusetts and Charlotte's Amanda Goetschius were named Atlantic 10 Cross Country Performers of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Also honored were Tim Zellmer of Saint Louis and Charlotte's Jenna Christensen, who were named Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Duncan, the graduate student from Gardner, Mass., led the Minuteman with a time of 25:28 at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa., en route to an 86th place overall finish in a field that featured three nationally ranked teams. Duncan's finish was the highest for a Minuteman at the Paul Short Invitational since 2009.
Goetschius, the senior from Franklinville, N.J., posted a time of 16:57 good enough for a third place overall finish at the Charlotte Invitational 5K in Charlotte, N.C. With her strong performance, Goetschius has now earned her second consecutive Women's Performer of the Week Award joining Hilary Orf of Saint Louis as the only repeat winners this season.
Zellmer, the freshman from Milwaukee, Wis., posted a time of 25:44.71 in the 8K at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky. Zellmer's time was good enough for a 120th place overall finish.
The Cary, N.C. native, Jenna Christensen, helped lead the 49ers to a fourth place team finish at the Charlotte Invitational in Charlotte, N.C. Christensen posted a time of 18:20 in the 5K on her way to a 36th place overall finish.
