NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Duquesne’s Jim Spisak was named Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Duquesne’s Amber Valimont was named Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week. Men’s Rookie of the Week honors went to the Dukes’ Bob Gasior, while Women’s Rookie of the Week honors went to Butler’s Olivia Pratt, as announced by the league Tuesday for meets ran Aug. 31- Sept. 2.

Senior Spisak earned Men’s Performer of the Week honors after winning the 8k race at the Duquesne Duals with a time of 24:54. The Johnston, Pa., native tied his personal best which was set at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship. Along with Spisak’s outstanding performance, the Dukes also took the next seven spots to win the overall meet.

Junior Valimont earned Women’s Performer of the Week honors after winning the 5k race at the Duquesne Duals with a time of 18:13. The Greenburg, Pa., native won the race by eight seconds, beating her time from last’s years Duquesne Duals race by nearly 30 seconds.

Freshman Gasior earned Men’s Rookie of the Week honors. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native finished fifth out of 59 competitors at the Duquesne Duals with a time of 26:32, helping his team to a first place victory.

Freshman Pratt earned Women’s Rookie of the Week honors. The Madison, Wis., native took first place in the 4k at the Illini Challenge with a time of 14:18.
