Richmond Women’s Cross Country Predicted to Take First in the 2013 A-10 Championship
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – In a poll conducted of the league’s head coaches, the Richmond Women’s Cross Country team has been selected to earn the 2013 Atlantic 10 title.
The Spiders, who last won an A-10 Cross Country title in 2010, return its top two finishers from the 2012 Championship in senior Jill Prentice, third-place overall, and junior Clare Moretz, 21st place overall.
Finishing just behind Richmond in the poll was 2012 runner-up La Salle. The Explorers lost three top-12 overall championship finishers from last year’s squad, but return seniors Michelle Capozzi, Anne Areias and junior Christa Strycharz. La Salle is in search of its second championship in the last three seasons and its eighth overall.
Saint Louis, Duquesne and Dayton rounded out the top five, and were followed by Saint Joseph’s, George Mason, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, George Washington, Fordham, VCU and St. Bonaventure.
The 2013 A-10 Women’s Cross Country Championship will be hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va. on Nov. 2.
