VCU, Dayton, GW and Fordham Pick Up Tennis Awards
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Aidan Koross and VCU’s Michal Voseck have been named Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Tennis Co-Performers of the Week, while Voseck’s teammate Vuk Velickovic was tabbed as the men’s Rookie Performer of the Week. On the women’s side, George Washington’s Lana Robins was named Performer of the Week, while Fordham’s Destiny Grunin was named Rookie Performer of the Week.
A native of Palm Desert, Calif., Koross was a part of a pair of wins in a match versus Butler. Koross topped the Bulldogs’ Pulok Bhattacharya 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 singles play, before he teamed up with Bernardo Sanson to win 6-4 in No. 1 doubles.
Voseck helped VCU to wins over Longwood and Morgan State. Voscek topped the Lancers’ Warren Bryan 6-3, 6-1 and defeated Morgan State’s Duk Young Park 6-0, 7-6 (7).
Velickovic picked up a win at No. 3 singles, defeating Justin Hoggs of Longwood 6-0, 6-2. The Perth, Australia, product then won a No. 3 singles against Jannick Tash of Morgan State 6-1, 6-0.
A native of Bellevue, Wash., Robins lost just two games in No. 1 single action against Navy’s Erin Snook, winning the match 6-2, 6-0. Robins then won at No. 1 doubles with Grace Egger 6-1 over Navy’s Mikaela Carlson and Noelle Kaufmann.
Grunin was tabbed as Rookie of the Week after picking up a win at No. 5 singles for the Rams against Fairfield. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native topped Tori Pirrello 6-1, 6-0.
