MATCH #7 - RESULTS
#1 MASSACHUSETTS , #9 DUQUESNE
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Top-seeded Massachusetts defeated No. 9 Duquesne, 4-0, in the second round of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championships, Friday morning at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. The Minutewomen will now face fourth-seeded Temple Saturday at 10:00 am.

The Dukes fought hard to open the match, claiming the number three doubles, 8-5, but could not hang on with the powerful Minutewomen.  Massachusetts secured the number one and three tandems, and would go on to capture the number four, five and six doubles.

MATCH #8 - RESULTS
#4 TEMPLE 4, #5 XAVIER 0
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Fourth-seeded Temple outlasted No. 5 Xavier, 4-0, in the second round of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championships, Friday morning at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. The Owls will now face top-seeded Massachusetts Saturday at 10:00 am.

The Owls opened the match on top, securing the doubles point with a pair of 8-4, 8-6 victories at the number three and one tandem positions. Despite leading in the number two singles, Xavier would surrender the number three, six and four positions to give the Owls the victory.

 

MATCH #9 - RESULTS
#2 CHARLOTTE, #10 SAINT LOUIS
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Second-seeded Charlotte hangs on for a win against No. 10 Saint Louis , 4-2, to advance to the semifinals of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championships, Friday afternoon at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.  The 49ers will face third-seeded Richmond on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Despite capturing the number one and two singles, Saint Louis could not hold off Charlotte, who secured the number two, four and five singles in addition to the double’s point.

MATCH #10 - RESULTS
#3 RICHMOND , #6 GEORGE WASHINGTON
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Third-seeded Richmond advances to the semifinals of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Championships after defeating sixth-seeded George Washington, 4-1, Friday afternoon at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.

The Colonials opened the match with the momentum after securing the doubles point with a pair of hard-fought 9-7 victories at the number one and three tandem positions. Richmond, however, would retaliate in the singles competition and rattle off four victories to out muscle George Washington and continue on in tournament.  The Spiders will face second-seeded Charlotte at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
