NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – In the final week of the regular season, the Atlantic 10 Conference has named Charlotte’s Jack Williams Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week, while fellow 49er Jordi Massalle Ferrer and George Washington’s Danil Zelenkov were named Co-Rookie Performers of the Week. The student-athletes are honored for matches played April 15-21.

MEN’S TENNIS PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Jack Williams, Charlotte
Sophomore | Alpharetta, Georgia

In the final match of the spring, Williams picked up his 17th singles win against UNC Greensboro’s Ahmet Sarioglu (6-3, 6-4) en route to a 5-2 Charlotte win over the Spartans. The number one pair of Williams and Massalle Ferrer also picked up the only doubles victory for the 49ers against Sarioglu and Daniel Mack, good for their 11th win of the season.

MEN’S TENNIS CO-ROOKIE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Jordi Massalle Ferrer, Charlotte
Freshman | Sant Feliu de Guixols, Spain

Massalle Ferrer earned his second A-10 Rookie of the Week nod after posting No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles victories to finish out the season against UNC Greensboro. Massalle Ferrer’s win over Spartan James Dougherty marked the freshman’s 25th overall win this year, moving into a tie for seventh most single-season wins at Charlotte (Sasha Parc, Ken Whitaker).

MEN’S TENNIS CO-ROOKIE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Danil Zelenkov, George Washington
Freshman | Skopje, Macedonia

Seven-time Rookie of the Week, Zelenkov netted two wins last week as GW fell to No. 29 VCU, 4-2. The Skopje, Macadeonia, native and Nikita Fomin knocked off Michal Voscek and Max Wennakoski, 8-5, for their 12th win together and sixth straight. In singles play, Zelenkov picked up a straight set victory (6-1, 6-2) over VCU’s No. 3 Alejandro Argente, a team-high 15th win in dual play this season.
