NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sonia Bokhari of Massachusetts and Temple’s Maame Ama Osei were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Tennis Performer and Rookie Performer of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday. The two student-athletes were recognized for matches played during the week of April 9-15.

Bokhari went undefeated last week in both singles and doubles competition. The Lake Hiawatha, N.J., native won all three of her matches at the second singles position against Bryant, Albany and Quinnipiac. With the wins, she improved to 13-7 in dual matches and 17-12 overall. Bokhari has won her last eight singles matches and contributed seven dual match doubles wins to the team this season.

Osei was 4-0 on the week with a 3-0 singles record and 1-0 mark in doubles play. The Lanham, Md., native, has quietly put together a 17-8 overall singles record, going 10-3 this spring and 4-1 against league foes. She is 9-1 in her last 10 singles bouts, including five-straight wins. Of her 17 singles victories, only one has gone to three sets.
