NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named George Washington’s Francisco Dias and Saint Joseph’s Jeff Kessler Men’s Tennis Co-Performers of the Week, while George Washington’s Danil Zelenkov earned his sixth Rookie Performer of the Week honor. Saint Joseph’s Aurora Davis and Massachusetts’ Yuliana Motyl earned Women’s Tennis Co-Performers of the Week, while Xavier’s Alex Brinker and Massachusetts’ Arielle Griffin were named Rookie Co-Performers of the Week. The student-athletes are recognized for matches played Apr. 8-14.

MEN’S TENNIS CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Francisco Dias, George Washington
Sophomore | Lisbon, Spain

Dias went undefeated in No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles last week, including two straight set wins to help George Washington to a perfect 3-0 weekend and remain undefeated in play against Atlantic 10 opponents. In doubles play, the Lisbon, Spain, native and senior Leonardo Lapentti, ranked #90 in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), extended their perfect doubles play to 15-0 with victories against pairs from Charlotte, Longwood and Radford. Dias earned No. 2 singles wins against Charlotte’s Jordi Massalle Ferrer (6-3, 6-2) and Radford’s Nicholas Sayer (6-4, 6-2), netting singles wins in his last five matches.

MEN’S TENNIS CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Jeff Kessler, Saint Joseph’s
Graduate Student | Brooklyn, N.Y.

Kessler picked up five wins for the Hawks as they swept all three matches last week, 7-0. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native earned three consecutive straight set victories over Lafayette’s Gavin Studner (6-3, 6-0), La Salle’s Robert Kasinow (6-4, 6-1) and St. Francis (N.Y.)’s Ricardo Garcia (6-1, 6-0). The graduate student also added doubles victories from the No. 1 and No. 2 spots with teammate Dan Barrus, posting wins over Lafayette and La Salle en route to a trio of Saint Joseph’s sweeps.

MEN’S TENNIS ROOKIE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Danil Zelenkov, George Washington
Freshman | Skopje, Macedonia

Zelenkov extended his current singles winning streak to seven and his doubles streak to five with four wins last week helping to lead the Colonials to a 3-0 weekend. The six-time A-10 Rookie of the Week went 2-0 from the No. 3 singles spot, defeating Longwood’s Edward Becker (7-5, 6-0) and Radford’s Thomas Dehaen (6-4, 4-6, 6-4). In doubles action, he and Nikita Fomin recorded a pair of No. 2 doubles victories against Charlotte and Radford and were leading Longwood’s Becker and Daniel Elston when George Washington secured the win.

WOMEN’S TENNIS CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Aurora Davis, Saint Joseph’s
Sophomore | Stroudsburg, Pa.

Davis posted four singles and three doubles victories for the Hawks last week, including four wins against conference opponents. The sophomore didn’t drop a set in her four singles wins from the No. 2 spot, downing Temple’s Jordan Batey (6-1, 6-2), St. Francis (N.Y.)’s Camille Petruzzo (6-0, 6-0), Rhode Island’s Nithila Asokaraj (6-0, 6-4) and Villanova’s Tori Smyth (6-2, 7-5). The Stroudsburg, Pa., product also paired with Casey Robinson for three No. 1 doubles victories against Temple, Rhode Island and Villanova.

WOMEN’S TENNIS CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Yuliana Motyl, Massachusetts
Junior | Toronto, Ontario

Motyl improved to 16-3 in dual matches and 21-7 overall with three doubles wins for Massachusetts last week. Motyl and Chantal Swiszcz earned three No. 1 doubles wins against Rhode Island, Bryant and Sacred Heart, lifting Massachusetts to a 3-0 week. The junior also led the Minutewomen from the top spot in singles with two straight set wins against Bryant’s Rosie Bird (6-2, 6-1) and Sacred Heart’s Gabby Kaldan (6-1, 6-0).

WOMEN’S TENNIS ROOKIE CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Alex Brinker, Xavier
Freshman | Granger, Ind.

Brinker earned her second straight A-10 Rookie of the Week nod after netting her 20th consecutive singles win, moving to the No. 1 spot for her final two matches of the season. The Granger, Ind., native dropped just four games in three matches last week, picking up wins over Wright State’s Alex Bastock (6-2, 6-1), Northern Kentucky’s Claire Spradlin (6-0, 6-0) and St. Bonaventure’s Fatya Amiri (6-1, 6-0). Brinker and Morris also added two No. 3 doubles wins for the Musketeers against Northern Kentucky and St. Bonaventure, their fourth win together in five matches.

WOMEN’S TENNIS ROOKIE CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK
Arielle Griffin, Massachusetts
Freshman | Jamaica Plains, N.Y.

Griffin improved to 18-6 overall in singles play with three wins last week against Rhode Island, Bryant and Sacred Heart. The rookie won two tie-break matches at No. 3 singles over URI’s Kathleen Uy (6-2, 6-7, 10-7) and Sacred Heart’s Nicole Rydzewski (6-1, 6-7, 10-8), and added a straight set win against Bryant’s Devlin-An Ammendola (6-2, 7-5). Griffin and partner Jessica Podlofsky improved to 16-8 overall in doubles play this spring, adding three wins last week from the No. 2 and 3 spots for UMass.
