ATHENS, Ga. – Entering the NCAA Doubles Championship, VCU's duo of Alexis Heugas and Nick Jones had won five straight matches and lost only once since the beginning of March.

Their hot streak continued in the opening round as the pair advanced to the Round of 16 with a 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-3 win over Nevada's Robert Allan and Victor Ouvrard.

Heugas and Jones battled their way to win the first set in a tiebreaker, before dropping the second set. The duo bounced back to breeze through the third and final set, winning 6-3 to secure the match and advance to Friday's action.

The pair is now 14-3 on the year.

Next up is the ninth-ranked pair of Hunter Harrington and Dominique Madden from Clemson. First serve of that match is set for 1 p.m. on Friday. The winner of the match will be honored as ITA All-Americans at the end of the season.
