EUGENE, Ore. – Sarah Moore showed her mettle on a national stage against some of the top athletes in the country.

The George Mason junior finished 20th in the semifinals of the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships to wrap up her season on Thursday night at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Moore, a native of Silver Spring, Md., ran a time of 53.19 – which ranks as the fourth-fastest time in program history – to place seventh in her heat. In a race broadcast nationally on ESPN2, she finished ahead of student-athletes from Big Five conference powers Baylor, Oklahoma and Tennessee. The top two runners in each of the three heats, along with the next two best times, advanced to the final on Saturday.

Moore qualified for her first national meet two weeks ago at the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in Tampa. She placed 11th to clinch one of the 12 qualifying spots in the East region with a personal-best time of 52.09 – the second-fastest in school history.

It was a strong way to cap off a superb season for Moore, who won two gold medals at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships last month at George Mason Stadium. She finished first in the 400 for the second straight year and anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to gold with an A-10 Championship record time of 3:38.58. She also ran the final leg of the 4x100-meter relay team to win gold at the ECAC Championships just a week later.

For her career, Moore has captured seven A-10 gold medals (indoor and outdoor) and three ECAC titles as an individual or on relay teams.
