Santos, Loebe, Lewis Named Top 100 Soccer Players In US

Newport News, Va. - VCU's Rafael Andrade Santos and Fordham's Janos Loebe and Matthew Lewis were named to Top 100 Players in the US List as announced by the publication Tuesday. 

Santos, a senior from Rio de Janiero, Brazil, was ranked as the sixth-best player in the country by The 2017 Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year led the league with 12 goals and 29 points. He scored five of VCU's 12 game-winning goals this year. Santos helped lead VCU to 12 victories and earn a first-round bye in the NCAA tournament.

Loebe, ranked the 75th best player in the US, led Fordham with nine assists and 23 points to go with seven goals and remained among the national leaders in assists and game-winning goals (4) throughout the season. The junior from Kierspe, Germany was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week twice in the season.  Loebe helped Fordham reach their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, which saw Fordham advance to the Elite Eight.

Lewis, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, was listed as the 91st best player in the US by The senior defender from Kansas City, Mo., played over 2,000 minutes this season for Fordham while missing only two minutes of action. He set a new career-high in assists with four. Lewis set the career records for games played and started at Fordham with 63.
