Richter and Nuhu Named A-10 Men's Soccer Weekly Award Winners

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Rhode Island junior Dominik Richter was named Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Monday, while Fordham junior Rashid Nuhu was selected as Defensive Player of the Week. Freshman Jacob Bohm of Fordham was awarded Rookie of the Week. The awards are for games played from Oct. 9 -15.

 

Richter, a midfielder from Neumarkt, Germany, recorded two goals and one assist last week, helping Rhode Island extend its unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive games. He netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 14th minute as Rhody picked up a 2-0 victory at Holy Cross. Against Davidson, Richter assisted on URI’s first goal of the game. Trailing 2-1 late in the second half, he scored an equalizer with just 25 seconds remaining in regulation to keep the Rams’ unbeaten streak intact. Richter has recorded 10 points in Rhode Island’s last five games.

 

Nuhu, a goalkeeper from Accra, Ghana, added two more shutouts to his ledger this week, registering clean sheets against St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph’s. He now has a league-high nine shutouts on the year and lowered his league-best GAA to 0.48. Nuhu posted a season-high six saves against Saint Joseph’s.

 

Bohm netted his second game-winning goal in as many weeks, as he scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win against Saint Joseph’s. The Berlin, Germany product has helped the Rams remain in first place in the conference with a record of 3-1-1.
