RICHMOND, Va. - The top-seeded La Salle Explorers (16-3-2) earned a seed the final of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship with a 2-1 overtime victory against No. 4 Duquesne Dukes (11-6-3). La Salle will face the winner of the day's second semifinal between No. 6 VCU and No. 7 Saint Joseph's.

La Salle's Kristin Haugstad dribbled into the far side of the 18-yard box before threading a pass into the six-yard box that Madison Bower pushed inside the far post with her left foot. Bower’s 10th goal of the season, and Haugstad's ninth helper, completed a comeback for the Explorers that began in the final minutes of regulation.

The Explorers, who had five shots on goal in the second half, tied the game with just 1:08 remaining in regulation on Katherine Hennessey’s first goal of the year. The senior gathered a deflection in the box and punched it inside the far post past a diving Kyra Murphy.

The Dukes got on the board in the 71st minute from Katie O'Connor who streaked down the left side of the field, sending a ball just inside the post, past a diving Larisa Zambelli.

Explorer keeper Larisa Zambelli made one of the game’s biggest plays in the 63rd minute, diving to her right to save a penalty kick by Casey Aunkst to keep the game scoreless. Zambelli made four saves in the game, and the Explorers came up with a huge team save in the 92nd minute when Hennessey blocked an Abby Losco shot just outside the six-yard box.

Though Duquesne controlled much of the first half, the Explorers outshot the Dukes, 20-14, and had two corner kicks to just one for Duquesne. Zambelli recorded four saves, while Murphy registered five.

With the win, the Explorers advance to their fourth Atlantic 10 Championship title game. They will take on VCU or Saint Joseph's on Sunday at Noon.
