OVERLAND PARK, Kan.  – Alexis Kiehl was one of 10 student-athletes selected as a finalist for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award® in women's collegiate soccer, honoring those who excel both on and off the field.

Kiehl, a forward from Cincinnati, Ohio, leads the Atlantic 10 in goals scored this season with nine. She recently moved up to fifth all-time at Dayton with 42 career goals scored. The two-time Atlantic 10 First Team selection was also a 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-East Region First Team and a 2016 NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection.

The finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 30 men's candidates and 30 women's candidates announced in September. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through November 20. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2017 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships later this fall.

"We were excited for Alexis that she made the initial list for the Senior Class Award, and thrilled when we heard that she is a finalist after it had been narrowed down to the top 10 in the nation," said Head Coach Eric Golz. "This a tremendous honor recognizing performance of the complete student-athlete, and we are all happy for her and proud of her for all that she has accomplished during her career here at Dayton. Now, we need to the support of all of our faithful Flyer fans to go vote often so that she can be the first in Dayton Women's Soccer history to win this prestigious award!  Please go to to support Alexis and our program!"

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring.
