PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team will play at No. 11 Rutgers on Saturday evening in the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament, the NCAA selection committee announced Monday. Game time from RU's Yurcak Field is set for 5 p.m.
The Explorers earned the program's fifth NCAA Tournament berth since 2011 by winning the Atlantic 10 Championship in dramatic fashion over the weekend in Richmond, Va. The team has compiled a record of 17-3-2, tying the 2012 team for most wins in a season in program history.
Only two Division I women's soccer teams, Stanford (18) and Duke (19), have more wins than La Salle's 17 this season.
Rutgers and La Salle last met in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, where the Scarlet Knights earned a 2-0 victory in Piscataway.
