NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The George Washington men’s swimming and diving team has been selected as the favorites to win the 2018 Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming and Diving Championship, according to a poll conducted of the league’s head coaches.  The league announced the poll Tuesday.

The Colonials received five first-place votes and 60 points in the preseason poll, and are coming off their first-ever A-10 Men’s Swimming & Diving title after finishing with 562.5 team points at last year’s championship. Returning for GW is sophomore Moritz Fath, who was named last year’s Most Outstanding Rookie Performer.  Head coach James Winchester was awarded the 2017 A-10 Coach of the Year.

La Salle, the A-10 runner-up in 2017, has been predicted to finish second this season and received one first-place vote and earned 54 points. Massachusetts was selected third in the poll with 51 points, followed by Fordham (38 points) and Saint Louis (24). George Mason, St. Bonaventure and Davidson rounded out the poll.
