NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Richmond women’s swimming and diving team have been predicted to take home the 2018 Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming and Diving Championship, according to a poll conducted of the league’s head coaches. The league announced the poll Tuesday.
Richmond, winners of seven consecutive A-10 titles and 15 of the last 16, received nine first-place votes and a total of 119 points. This year’s team brings back sophomore Hannah Gouger, the 2017 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, and is led by reigning Coach of the Year Matt Barany.
Duquesne, runner-up at last year’s championship, was predicted to finish second in this year’s poll finishing with 103 points. Fordham, with 101 points and two first-place votes was selected third. Massachusetts (89) and George Washington (74) were selected fourth and fifth, respectively, and were followed by George Mason, St Bonaventure, Davidson, Saint Louis, Rhode Island and La Salle.
The 2018 A-10 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will be held February 14-17 at the SPIRE Institute located in Geneva, Ohio.
