NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Atlantic 10 and its member institutions are sending t-shirts and other supplies to Houston to help in the relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
While plans to provide support were being made across the league, University of Houston men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson issued a plea on social media, asking for donations from across all of
“We have all been touched by the visuals of the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in Texas, and our hearts go out to the thousands of people who have been displaced from their homes. In our own small way, the Atlantic 10 Conference and its 14 member schools are supporting the recovery and cleanup efforts and hope others in collegiate athletics will assist the University of Houston’s efforts to help these Texas communities,” stated Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade.
