GREENSBORO, N.C. --After guiding Davidson baseball to its most successful season in program history, the American Baseball Coaches Association has voted skipper Dick Cooke as Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.

Cooke, who will enter his 28th season at the helm, led the Wildcats to their first-ever NCAA appearance, where they became just the sixth No. 4 seed to ever advanced to a Super Regional and just the second to sweep. The team garnered a program-best 35 wins as they became the first-ever No. 6 seed to claim the Atlantic 10 Championship. His tutelage has led to three players moving on to professional baseball in the last two seasons.

Cooke was selected by fellow head coaches in the Atlantic Region, which spans across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, and Maryland and includes every Division I program.

Cooke was chosen as the Big South Coach of the Year in 1992, and the Southern Conference Coach of the Year in 2014.
