PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - After winning a program-record 30 games and advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament last season, Xavier is ranked 19th by The Sporting News in its men's basketball preview issue.

Led by fifth-year head coach Sean Miller, who has compiled a mark of 93-39 at XU, the Musketeers welcome back seniors C.J. Anderson (10.7 ppg.) and B.J. Raymond (9.9 ppg.) and junior Derrick Brown (10.9 ppg.). Raymond knocked down a team-high 82 field goals from beyond the arc last season, while Brown paced the team with an average of 6.5 rebounds per game.

Also cracking the rankings were Saint Joseph's at No. 32 and 2008 A-10 Champion Temple at No. 38. Both teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season and were among a league-record eight teams to reach the 20-win plateau.

The 2008-09 Atlantic 10 men's basketball season gets underway on Nov. 11 as Massachusetts faces Arkansas-Monticello in the opening round of the 2K Sports Classic in Carbondale, Ill.
