The No. 11 Rams (25-9), playing in Sacramento in the NCAA, will face third-seeded Oregon at 7:10 pm ET at the Golden 1 Center on TBS. URI beat No. 6 Creighton 84-72 Friday. Oregon (30-5), ranked No. 9 in the AP and Coaches' polls, beat Iona 93-77 in the first round to advance to Sunday. Rhody is playing in its first NCAA Tournament since 1999 and the Rams won their first game Friday since 1998.
The Rhode Island-Oregon winner will advance to the Sweet 16, playing in the Kansas City Regional against the Michigan-Louisville winner.
Richmond (21-12), a sixth seed in the NIT, will host No. 7 Oakland Sunday at the Robins Center at 7:30 pm. After defeating Alabama on the road in the NIT First Round, UR earned a home game against Oakland (25-8) after the seventh-seeded Golden Grizzlies knocked off Clemson on the road. The game will air on ESPNU.
Richmond makes its ninth appearance in the NIT and the second in three seasons. The Spiders are 9-8 all-time in the NIT and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2002 and 2015. Richmond has played in the postseason seven times in the last 10 seasons, winning eight total games.
