NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Through an extensive set of media partnerships, the Atlantic 10 Conference will showcase 288 men’s basketball games live via linear, digital and social media platforms during the 2017-18 season. This includes all 126 conference matchups, 83 of which will air on TV, with an additional 43 exclusively on digital and social outlets.
There will be 75 games distributed via the conference’s national television package, 22 games that are part of the A-10’s new partnership with Stadium, 53 league-controlled games distributed on regional sports networks and local channels, 44 appearances in non-conference road or neutral site games and an additional 94 home games available exclusively on the A-10 Network. Included among these totals are all 13 games of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., which will air on television via Stadium, NBCSN, CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports.
The previously announced league package of 75 national television games, featured 117 total national television appearances across the league’s three media partners: ESPN, CBS Sports Network, and NBCSN. Through the course of league play, there will be 50 televised games, in addition to 14 televised non-conference games as part of the A-10 package. Included in the national package is the return of Atlantic 10 Friday Night Showcase on ESPN, featuring seven high-profile Friday primetime games, six of which will be during conference play.
The A-10 also recently announced an agreement with Stadium, the new, fully programmed, 24/7, multiplatform sports network with distribution across both the linear television and digital space. Stadium will air 20 regular season games and two Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship contests nationally. Games will appear in over 60 markets via OTA broadcast as well as on WatchStadium.com, the Stadium iOS and tvOS apps, Twitter (@WatchStadium), Pluto TV and select distribution partners. A select number of games produced by Stadium will air exclusively on Facebook, marking the second year the Atlantic 10 has worked with the social media giant to showcase a package of games.
The 2017-18 Atlantic 10 men’s basketball television schedule begins with four televised games on the season’s opening night, Friday, Nov. 10. All 11 opening night games will appear digitally on the A-10 Network. Conference play begins Friday, Dec. 30, with three games nationally televised as part of an NBCSN tripleheader. The other four conference openers will be broadcast on the A-10 Network.
Atlantic 10 institutions reside in states that comprise 33.3 million television households, approximately 30 percent of the total national media market. There are nine A-10 institutions in or adjacent to the top 25 media markets in the country.
